Voyageurs National Park

Voyageurs National Park, Minnesota's National Treasure, is a water-based must-see park any time of the year. In a state known for beauty and abundant wildlife, this 218,000 acre island stands out as Minnesota’s only national park. Rainy, Kabetogama, Namakan and Sand Point Lakes – as well as 26 smaller lakes – provide access to the park and its 84,000 acres of water and more than 500 islands.

Whether you are a wildlife watcher or it’s recreation or relaxation you’re after – or all three – plan to experience this remote, natural wonder. Boat in to a campsite or make it a daytrip. Guided boat and canoe tours are popular or hit the trails for a hike to remember. Programs headed by rangers are another way to learn more about the special qualities and amazing past that truly make Voyageurs National Park a one-of-a-kind wilderness destination.

In the winter, take the ice road. Groomed snowmobile and cross-country ski trails await, and of course, incredible ice fishing. Check with the main Rainy Lake Visitor Center at Black Bay, open year round, for more information and to plan your visit
