A Lake That’s Almost Legendary -This awesome body of water attracts outdoor enthusiasts and souls in search of solitude in equal measure.
For many, Rainy Lake ranks high on the list of reasons to call the International Falls area home or to own a cabin here. Every year thousands from outside the area pass through town as well, heading to their favorite weekend fishing hole or hauling the whole family Up North for a week of memory making.
A frequent stop for regulars and first-time visitors is Rainer, where Rainy Lake and the Rainy River meet. This little waterfront village is both quaint and full of character. Go for a swim, enjoy a picnic or stop in for a beverage and bite to eat at Loony’s Brew (a lakeside pub) and the Rainy Lake Grill. You’ll be tempted to stay longer than you planned and if you do Tara's Wharf is a relaxing lakefront B&B and ice cream shop.
You’ll have plenty of fun in the winter too, staying warm with activities like snowmobiling, sledding, ice skating, ice fishing and more.
